Kelley Sanabria

Kelley Sanabria is an experienced Customs official with expertise in international trade policy. She has held a variety of positions in the federal government and private sectors related to trade policy, public relations, leadership development, and international affairs. A fluent Spanish speaker, Ms. Sanabria has lived in a variety of locations throughout Latin America.

Ms. Sanabria currently serves as CT Strategies’ Chief Communications Advisor. In this role she is responsible for leading coordination of the company’s media affairs, special event engagement, and other public outreach activities.

During her time at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Ms. Sanabria advanced a variety of initiatives which sought to streamline the import/export system–notably the CBP Centers of Excellence and Expertise (CEEs), which centralize and harmonize trade processing across 300+ U.S. Ports of Entry. In this role she developed a comprehensive communications strategy for the CEEs to include a media package and key messaging from agency leadership.In addition, Ms. Sanabria served as a subject matter expert on Commercial Targeting and Enforcement issues related to trade intelligence. She drove important public-private partnership initiatives in this area by creating collaboration opportunities for CBP and key industry sectors across the U.S. to share trade intelligence.

She has arranged and facilitated several engagement sessions with industry, including the 2012 East Coast Trade Symposium, to promote bi-direction education and co-creation of initiatives between CBP and the trade community. Additionally, she led multiple trade roundtables on effective trade enforcement for the New York and Los Angeles brokerage and import/export communities. She was also responsible for formulating industry and media communication strategies to amplify the messages of these events nationwide.

Ms. Sanabria continues to promote community outreach and leadership development as the Founder of ‘Femworking’, a networking fellowship for female entrepreneurs. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs from Florida State University, continuing on to receive her Master’s Degree from FSU in International Affairs with a focus on Economics, where she graduated with Distinction.
